Christmas Programs

Sitting here among my Shakespeare notes, I feel inspired to tell everyone about the hilarious event that was Michael's Christmas program. Lindsey and I had been looking forward to said program for quite a while (last year's had us laughing so hard that I think Mom was embarrassed by us) and last night was the big event. This year, he graduated from being a Warrior Angel to being one of the three kings complete with impressive robes and enormous crown. He looked pretty adorable, but don't tell him I said that, he is seven after all. Michael was funny in his weird neck twisting tic and fake singing, but I have to give first place to the "Strangling Sheep." Allow me to explain: the kindergarteners were all dressed up as sheep and were so stinking cute it's unbelievable. However, some were funnier than others. The absolute funniest was this little blond girl in the front row (when she was where she was supposed to be at least) who was constantly doing something and rarely what she was supposed to. Sometimes it was just bouncing energetically to the songs, other times she was circling the herd on her hands and knees, at the end she was bugging Michael who was kneeling and singing (for once!) next to her. She seemed to be in awe of him: staring up at him, tugging at his robes and poking him. Michael very regally ignored her for a while, but eventually it became obvious that she was getting to him. He kept glancing down with a look of disdain and confusion, pulling his robes out of her hands and inching away from her. Hilarious. Eventually she lost interest in Michael, to the misfortune of the sheep to her left...It was nearing the end of the program, you see, and she was getting progressively rowdier. So naturally she took hold of the unfortunate girl next to her and wrestled her to the ground gripping her around the neck in a strangle hold. Ahhh, what a good time! Oh, and the sound system was picking up a random spanish am radio station. So at all the quiet reverent points, everyone could hear the two hosts nattering away in spanish. Through in an occasional bout of feedback, and you get the picture. It was pretty darn funny. Too bad Michael will be too old for this program next year :( Maybe I'll make an appearance anways...you should too!

The Spanish language station was a definite high point/low point! Too weird for words...
