Decisions
Yes, I think I've actually made my decision about my major and minor. It hit me today over a peppermint mocha frappucino in the basement of Starbucks that I want to major in English and minor in Anthropology. These English classes that I've been taking are good for me; they challenge my faith without making me come anywhere near changing my mind. Believe it or not, this is wonderful because it has revealed to me my ignorance of the faith i've grown up believing. I know the major things, but I'm completely incapable of intelligently countering the lies my professors and classmates spout. They're so obviously lacking God and truth that it hurts and I want so badly to tell them why they're wrong, but I don't know how/what to tell them. Recognizing this is the first step towards improvement hopefully. Now that I know I am not where I should be in terms of defending the faith, I can start to change that. It's a rather daunting task, but I know (through what I do know of Catholicism) that if I really work at it and pray for wisdom etc. then I will eventually make it to where I can stand up for what I believe without immediately discrediting myself with my stammering inability to say what I need to. So that's why I'm going for English as a major: it makes me think and it's also quite enjoyable most of the time even though it's not easy. Anthropology as a minor is really just makes sense because i've taken so many classes in it that i'm probably at least halfway done with the minor already. So that is what i'm thinking now. Again, feel free to comment.

good for you!! yay! It sounds like a great major/minor combo and for good reasons. (sounds kinda similar to my major/minor of English/History). have a good one!
job opportunities?
m.o.m. says ask H. Cous about her anthro degree! Oh well, you can always write something. That's a gift.
Enjoy yourself, and hopefully you'll find a way to pay for those dang loans too. With your talents, you'll go far.
Yeah! Good rationale for your decision. Trust Lauren to be all practical and think of jobs...pah. You could write for the L'Osservatore Romano, english edition natch.
Myow. Poor Michigan.
Congradulations on your decision! I think it is a great one coming from a history/political science major/minor. It would work well for you in library school as well! ~Sara
