Of Coffee Shops and Costumes.

How do you decide which coffee shop is the right one to go to when there are four all within a block of each other? This was my dilema this afternoon after class. I decided I didn't want to go right home because I had my book and wanted coffee. But which one do I go to? There are too many choices!! I will now weigh the advantages and disadvantages of the four choices: 1. Espresso Royale: Good place to get an almond steamer but not much else. Every time I try the hot chocolate, it tastes oddly like hot milk. Strange...almost as if they didn't put chocolate in it or something. However, I love the almond steamer and I have a little card where you get 10 drinks and then get a free cup of coffee. 2. Starbucks: Love Starbucks mostly. Especially their peppermint mocha and hot chocolate. Unfortunately, they don't have a "10 cups=1 free" deal and I just went there on Monday and last Thursday, so that's a bit much. 3. Seattle's Best (Borders): The advantage of this one is that it means an excuse to go in Borders and spend lots of money. Disadvantage, you have to actually work to get up there. Gosh! I like their drinks, but don't love them and sometimes there isn't enough seating. Plus, I don't know if you're allowed to bring your own books in there. 4. Beaner's: This is my favorite coffee shop! I love the atmosphere and the drinks are all delicious. Sometimes they have special seasonal drinks (leprechaun latte being the most recent) and they also have a promotion where you drink 12 cups of coffee and get a free one. However, they started out by giving me three stamps, so it's really only 9. I'm well on my way...:) Then to top it off, they have a new trivia question every day! So I went to Beaner's and read my book for an hour or so and drank my "Caramel Marvel" with great joy. Even greater joy because I knew the answer to the trivia question for the first time ever!! Yeah!! Unfortunately, I just realized while writing this that I forgot to give the girl my card to stamp. Darn! Perfectly good coffee: wasted! Oh well. Costumes. Nora (little sister) is in some kind of school play where she has to have a costume. A jungle animal costume. She didn't have one (strange...) so I asked Senora if she happened to have one from way back when. She didn't, however, we went out and bought all kinds of fun stuff and made one! I did paper mache (spelling?) for the first time ever! Fun, fun, fun. And the costume is really cute! So that's that, sorry I'm not more regular with these, I really don't have a good excuse. Hope you guys are well!

I hear nora's costume is quite the thing. Michael said it was a sheep, but that doesn't sound very jungle animally, what is it really?

You should only be drinking non-coffee items at these coffee shops, frankly I'm shocked that a sister of mine is being swayed by Coffee. Perhaps you should try some of my "model T" tea that I'm currently designing.

Umm, designing as in coming up with some kind of tea recipe? If so, I don't know Lindsey, I know you a bit too well to try anything that you "cooked". Nora's costume is a bird, I don't know where Michael got the idea it was a sheep, unless he thinks sheep are bright orange and have beaks...which I suppose is possible considering it's Michael. I'm thinking about majoring in Enlish, what do you think?

P.S. Guess what I had today :) Give you a hint, starts with a "cough" and ends with an "e".

mm- so proud of you joining the ranks of the coffee snobs :D and choosy about the shops and the deals they offer, very helpful info for us fellow coffee snobs- not that i'm downtown A2 often, but when i am, i'll know where to go. here in saline we have 2 cute coffee shops, sweetwaters and the drowsy parrot. both very nice establishments and good coffee beverages at both places. altho i think the drowsy parrot has more non-coffee (teas, fruit smoothies, etc) beverages should you bring a certain sister wiht you sometime :D speaking of coffee, we should hang out again sometime- only not at the arborland borders, lest we meet our buddies there like last time ...

Hehe, yeah, definitely should avoid the Borders at night I guess :) Drowsy Parrot, what a cool name! Yep, we should hang out again soon. See if we can squeeze it in around my panicked studying for finals and writing all kinds of papers. Which is what I should be doing now...'cause it's due tomorrow. See you!
